This is it: the final Toilet Tuesday of the year. It’s going out on a quieter note, with the near-constant deluge of new music having dropped off quite a bit. Hans and I have picked a couple solid listens for you, though there are a few more down further that might warrant your attention as well.<\/p>\n

Anna Pest – Dark Arms Reach Skyward with Bone White Fingers (Independent) [Prog\/Tech Death]<\/strong>
\nListen<\/a><\/p>\n

There are a lot of solo projects on the list this week, and while I’d like to shout out Legacy of a Lost Aeon<\/strong> and Zac Leaser<\/strong>, it’s this one that stood out the most to me. It’s a very tight and competent mix of technical and brutal death metal welded onto an undercarriage of deathgrind. Fans of Jon Chang’s projects should find something to like here, both musically and thematically. “Heavy Lie the Mountains” surprises with a relatively laid-back, melodic part, which I’m hoping there will be more of on the full release. 1\/1\/21<\/strong> (Hans)<\/p>\n

You like\u00a0Exhumed<\/strong>? I’d wager the folks in Cartilage<\/strong> do as well, because this is remarkably similar stuff, from the riffs to the dual vocal attack to the cover art. Not that I’m complaining; this kind of violent, gore-drenched death metal is something I could stand to have more of in my life, and\u00a0Gore-met<\/em> is a fine little piece of it. Recommended if you like your shit grimy and fast.\u00a012\/29\/20<\/strong> (Spear)<\/p>\n
