It’s Toilet Tuesday, and we’ve got all your new music needs covered right here. Well, perhaps not all; it’s a relatively light week on account of a whole lot of NSBM releases and not much of anything else, and we don’t cover that shit here, so the list is a bit small today. Take a look and see if something tickles your fancy, and as always, let us know if there’s something we missed.

Grief Collector – En Delirium (Petrichor) [Doom] I’ve never heard Grief Collector’s instrumentalists’ other bands so maybe GC sounds exactly like them, but having Robert Lowe’s bitter ass for vocalist certainly tends to guide the train of thought. That is to say that several of his previous bands, doom legends each, some long before his time and no thanks to him, are evoked by Grief Collector. Named appropriately enough, GC are at their best when the try to mine the mourn on their leads, but spends much too much time with limp chugs instead. Lowe’s performance is hardly a career best, but not his worst work either and while he’s left to carry the weight here, he’s not always up to the task. Some promise, little actual delivery from Grief Collector here based on the two singles, but I’m hoping really hard they’ve ditched the chug-heavy approach elsewhere, or at least will come next time. And hopes, thoughts and prayers make the difference, right America? 6/11/21 (Karhu)

Brother Against Brother – Brother Against Brother (Frontiers Records) [Power Metal] Crucifixion Bell – Eternal Grip of the Nocturnal Empire (Crown & Throne) [Black Metal] Crypta – Echoes of the Soul (Napalm Records) [Melodeath] Dornenreich – Du wilde Liebe sei (Prophecy Productions) [Folky Black Metal] Eremit – Bearer of Many Names (Transcending Obscurity) [THICK Doom] Exsanguination – Spectral Hymns (HPGD Productions) [Death Metal] Firienholt – By the Waters of Awakening (Naturmacht Productions) [Black Metal] General Surgery – Lay Down and Be Counted (Independent) [Death Metal] Glora Nexus – A Grand Monument to Mortality (Bhumidhuka Productions) [Black Metal] Hammer King – Hammer King (Napalm Records) [Heavy/Power Metal] Hysterical Blindness – Salomon (Independent) [Black Metal] Interloper – Search Party (Nuclear Blast) [Prog/Tech Metalcore] Ironweed – The Weed (American Records) [Stoner Doom] Malchus – Apokalipsa (Independent) [Prog Death] Metalwings – A Whole New Land (Independent) [Symphonic Metal] MlelM – Mourning Silence (Independent) [Funeral Doom] Mother of All – Age of the Solipsist (Black Lion Records) [Melodeath] Narbeleth – Svmma Cvm Nox Arcana (Folter Records) [Black Metal] Path of Destiny – The Seed of All Evil (Apostasy Records) [Melodeath] Sepiroth – Condemned to Suffer (Independent) [Death Metal] SlugWeed – Dreams (Independent) [Stoner Doom] TarLung – Architect (Independent) [Stoner Doom] This Ending – Needles of Rust (Black Lion Records) [Melodeath] Varego – Varego (Independent) [Sludge/Prog] Void Tripper – Dopefiend (Independent) [Stoner Doom] Winter’s Breath – Graveyard Symphonies (Via Nocturna) [Black Metal]
