You might have heard – people have wanted for it for a long time<\/a> – but Pantera’s<\/strong> finally cashing in their boomer-band pension fund and doing some reunion shows.\u00a0 Cool.\u00a0 Awesome.\u00a0 Sure it’ll be magical.\u00a0 I’m not annoyed by this band so much as the way people rally around them.\u00a0 So many things about them are problematic relics of the past.\u00a0 Phil Anselmo doing a white power salute, then writing it off.\u00a0 Dimebag dropping the N-word on video.\u00a0 The usual “heritage not hate” rhetoric about brandishing the Confederate flag on guitars.\u00a0 People might say it’s unhelpful to ‘nitpick’ mistakes from the past instead of just leaving them there or looking for common ground<\/a>.\u00a0 I might accept that if people weren’t trying to deify this band.\u00a0 Trying to restore Vinnie Paul’s nasty sex limo<\/a>.\u00a0 Floating the idea of turning Vinnie’s mansion into a Pantera museum<\/a>.\u00a0 Going on a worldwide reunion tour that will probably sell out.\u00a0 Mostly I’m annoyed I keep reading about this band on various metal outlets.\u00a0 Guess I’ll take some advice and just walk <\/em>out.<\/p>\n
