Some dude dropped more than $6,000 on a rare record. Was it you? For Pete’s sake, WHY??

The Vinyl Factory has an excellent article about the most expensive item ever sold on Discogs. The item in question? A shelved early version of Judge‘s Bringin’ It Down titled Chung King Can Suck It. For those unfamiliar, Discogs is an online marketplace for disgusting vinyl nerds to buy and sell their records. I use it often.

Let me break down (eh, eh?) the story of Chung King Can Suck It from the POV of Mike “Judge” Ferraro:

>Be Mike Judge

>Not the Beavis and Butthead guy. The straightedge hardcore one.

>Be in up and coming NYHC band that will one day be legends of the genre.

>feelsgoodman.jpg

>Release debut 7″ New York Crew and folks dig it.

>Go to record first full-length at Chung King Studios.

>Dang it. The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, & LL Cool J have booked the three best studios.

>Have to use the remaining crappy one.

>Recording engineer is a dipshit cokehead who has apparently never heard of punk.

>Album sounds like fuck.

>Want to throw it away and try again but Revelation Records bossman Jordan Cooper says we have to print 100 of these turds to fulfill pre-orders.

>Title the record Chung King Can Suck It, cuz they can suck it.

>Ship out crappy records.

>Re-record album and title it Bringin’ It Down.

>Soundsgoodman.flac

>25 years later the Internet exists.

>Some nerd spends $6,600 on Chung King Can Suck It on ebay.

>Some other nerd sets the record for most expensive purchase on Discogs by dropping $6,048 for that crappy album.

>mfw this ignorance has got to be stopped.

Chung King Can Suck It really does sound like shit. If you’re curious, spend $6K+ to pick up the vinyl so you can hear it. Or you can pick up one of the many bootlegs and/or repressings of the album. Oh, wait, what’s that? Apparently you can also listen to music from your computer nowadays. Crazy.
