My new theory is that this is simply a clock that counts down to the end of the week and will continue to reset every Sunday until time ends.<\/li>\n<li>Former\u00a0<strong>Vale of Pnath<\/strong> vocalist Stevie Boiser has joined\u00a0<strong>Tethys<\/strong>, whose first single can be heard <a href=\"https:\/\/tethys1.bandcamp.com\/releases\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. I feel like I&#8217;ve been making comparisons to\u00a0<strong>Inferi<\/strong> a lot lately, but this very much resembles the songwriting on\u00a0<em>Path of Apotheosis<\/em>, from the piano intro to the arpeggiated riffs to the super fast tapping bits.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kardashev<\/strong> are streaming\u00a0<em>Peripety<\/em> in full at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heavyblogisheavy.com\/2015\/10\/29\/exclusive-premiere-stream-kardashevs-debut-full-length-lp-peripety\/\" target=\"_blank\">HBIH<\/a>, which several Toileteers have described as\u00a0sounding like\u00a0<em>The Flesh Prevails<\/em> minus the production woes. Get on that.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Zenith Passage<\/strong> have posted some studio footage from the recording sessions of their new album. If that&#8217;s your thing, take a looksie right <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9zv8XXqZDlw\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Maestros of mindfuckery\u00a0<strong>Coma Cluster Void<\/strong> have a new song streaming at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nocleansinging.com\/2015\/11\/02\/an-ncs-premiere-coma-cluster-void-mind-cemeteries\/\" target=\"_blank\">No Clean Singing<\/a>. Look for\u00a0<em>Mind Cemeteries<\/em> to be out sometime next year.<\/li>\n<li>Do you like tech? How about brutal death?\u00a0<strong>Epitasis<\/strong> asks, &#8220;Why not both?&#8221; Why not both, indeed. Check out &#8220;The Silence of Extinction&#8221; on their <a href=\"https:\/\/epitasis.bandcamp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bandcamp<\/a> page and keep an eye out for the rest of\u00a0<em>Decimation of Gaia<\/em>\u00a0later this month.<\/li>\n<li>Following the incarceration of Youri Raymond,\u00a0<strong>Killitorous<\/strong> have brought on Mathieu Dhani on vocals until Youri is released. I don&#8217;t know much about Dhani, but he seems to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2f70uR6bQj8&amp;feature=share\" target=\"_blank\">sufficiently brutal.<\/a>\u00a0He will be debuting with the band on their upcoming tour with\u00a0<strong>Erimha<\/strong> this November and December.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<div align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"100\" src=\"http:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/v=2\/album=793160933\/size=venti\/bgcol=FFFFFF\/linkcol=4285BB\/\" style=\"position:relative;display:block;width:400px;height:100px;\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>It seems that the infinite depth of outer space will never cease to be a wellspring of tech death subject matter. From\u00a0<strong>The Faceless<\/strong> to\u00a0<strong>Decrepit Birth<\/strong> to\u00a0<strong>Alkaloid<\/strong>, it seems that every band who&#8217;s flirted with the genre has looked to the sky for inspiration\u00a0at one time or another. This isn&#8217;t without reason; besides the wealth of subject matter it provides (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4axOfBW5CcU\" target=\"_blank\">alien invasion<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Xl-Og0ZBVGw\" target=\"_blank\">the birth of the universe<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hVGcwoqgbyE\" target=\"_blank\">space exploration<\/a>), the universe&#8217;s enigmatic nature creates a perfect backdrop for a genre that is based on pushing the boundaries of metal musicianship.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Virial<\/strong> are the latest in the long line of tech death artists to tap into that inspiration. I usually expect younger bands like this to be pure\u00a0<strong>Obscura<\/strong> worship (they covered &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BQ3sQN4VOCg\" target=\"_blank\">Anticosmic Overload<\/a>&#8221; on their demo, for Christ&#8217;s sake), but while there&#8217;s some of that present on\u00a0<em>Organic Universe<\/em>, I was surprised at the somewhat harsher take on the same sound. Opening track &#8220;Coincidence of Existence&#8221; and closers &#8220;Viminas&#8221; and &#8220;The Ultimate Fate,&#8221; with their lightning guitar harmonies and weird counterpoints, bear the closest resemblance to Germany&#8217;s premier tech band; however the majority of the album brings\u00a0<strong>Alustrium<\/strong> to mind. The riffs are similarly vicious, and the drums bring plenty of groove between streams of blastbeats. There&#8217;s a lot of cool stuff happening with the bass, too. While I&#8217;m not terribly keen on the tone, there are some clever passages on &#8220;Calculated Genetic Selection&#8221; and &#8220;Close Encounters&#8221; that add to the alien vibe.
