The former Stone Temple Pilots<\/strong> frontman reportedly died at the age of 48.<\/p>\n

That line above is really all we know. Despite Weiland’s notoriously self-destructive behavior, it doesn’t seem real. Late last night, Billboard and Dave Navarro<\/a> both relayed that STP’s former singer had shuffled off his mortal coil. This news is… incredibly sudden. I was still getting Facebook ads about his current tour with Scott Weiland &\u00a0the Wildabouts<\/strong> just hours ago.\u00a0In addition to his work with Stone Temple Pilots, Weiland also fronted supergroup Velvet Revolver<\/strong>, alongside\u00a0Guns N’\u00a0Roses<\/strong> veterans Matt Soren, Duff McKagen, and Slash.<\/p>\n

Stone Temple Pilots were one of the handful of bands that dominated my FM rock station\u00a0childhood. I’m sure you have your own\u00a0memories of his work, but I’ll leave you with my favorite, “Big Empty”, from The Crow<\/em> soundtrack.<\/p>\n
