If you’re a fan of Enfold Darkness, I’ve got some good news and bad news for you. The bad news: Matt Brown, vocalist and founder of the monstrous death metal group, has left the band that he birthed. The good news: Enfold Darkness already have a replacement vocalist lined up in the form of Andy Nelson, formerly of Abysmal Dawn. Better news: the band is set to enter the studio in February to knock out vocals for the new album.

The news was dropped late yesterday evening via Enfold Darkness’ Facebook page. You can read the whole post below, including Brown’s reasons for leaving and the band’s palpable excitement to have Nelson on board.

Alot of you have been asking about updates on the album. Some of these may not make you very happy, but we are doing what it takes to make sure that you are getting a solid product. Matt Brown – founder of Enfold Darkness – has left the band for personal reasons. He has issued the following statement: “Today is the day a change is made. After grinding away for 11 years with this project, I have decided to set it down on my end in order to pursue other interests in life. I apologize to anyone who was looking forward to hearing my vocals on the new record, but I have a feeling that you will enjoy my successor’s just as much (if not more).Thank you to everyone who has supported me and this band. It was a really fun and interesting ride. Without further adieu, I welcome my replacement to the ‘Fold: the very talented Andy Nelson (formerly of Abysmal Dawn)!”With all of that being said, vocals are the last step to having a completed record. We are set to start recording them in February. Enjoy this short clip of Andy listening to his tryout on the way home from the studio! Thanks for all the support. We are nothing without you all.~Elijah and Enfold Darkness P.S. Keep it 6

If you feel like you’ve been waiting forever to hear the follow-up to 2009’s Our Cursed Rapture, the time of reckoning is almost upon you. If you have no idea who Enfold Darkness are, just think Abysmal Dawn and Black Dahlia Murder-style death metal with just a wee bit more grit thrown in for good measure. I’m curious to see if Enfold Darkness becomes even more like Abysmal Dawn on the new album due to Nelson’s addition. I suppose we’ll find out soon enough. If you still haven’t heard Enfold Darkness, you can check out their most recent track below, 2015’s “The Dirge of the Surrogate Invictus”
