Aside from working really long hours this month to conclude some research, travel for work, find a new employee, and teach a class, work has been going really well. My boss emailed me to let me know he was giving me a raise, and my publications, the big metric by which you are judged in academia, have really taken off this year. I’m extremely grateful for a lot of interesting opportunities that have paid off to make those papers come together, and I couldn’t have done it alone. I’ve been fortunate to have a great support system here, so I remain grateful and hope for future success.<\/p>\n

Match day for residency is in March, so my wife will soon be interviewing at hospitals all across the country. Although she’s a hyper-competitive candidate and will therefore have a good chance of landing one of her top picks, it’s going to be a bit of a sticky wicket for me to find a job where she may or may not be matched. The training is progressing well, and we’ll be at 10-mile runs by the end of the month. Unfortunately, all that mileage is putting wear and tear on my feet, and I have a plethora of new blisters and calluses to show for it. I’d post a picture for you, but feet are shameful and not meant to be seen in public.
