It’s Toilet Tuesday once more, and thank god for that. We’ve got a big pile of new releases here for you, and there’s some pretty good stuff to be found within. Hans and I picked out a couple that might catch your interest, but be sure to check the list for more.<\/p>\n

Deathstorm – Reaping What Is Left (High Roller Records) [Thrash]<\/strong>
\nListen<\/a><\/p>\n

Not a lot of new things here, but an excellent showcase of thrash. We’ve got a fair bit of Slayer<\/strong> going on, but I’m also reminded of Kreator<\/strong>, and maybe a sprinkling of Sepultura<\/strong> here and there. More modern references might include Hypnosia<\/strong> and Ripper<\/strong>. No anachronistically ruddy production, but not too clean, either. It feels like the album that makes you go, “If you’re into thrash, you gotta hear this.” Everything about it screams “classic.” If you’re not sold yet, come back Friday and at least check out “Unholy Lamentations”. 05\/25\/18<\/strong> (Hans)<\/p>\n

Micawber – Beyond the Reach of Flame (Prosthetic Records) [Death Metal]<\/strong>
\nListen<\/a><\/p>\n

Micawber<\/strong> have been gradually growing and refining their style over the years (thing early 90’s USDM tonality filtered through the lens of modern songwriting and structure), really coming into their own on 2015’s\u00a0Gods of Outer Hell<\/em>. If that album defined their sound, then this one evolves it; the riffs have more variety and motion, the solos are more interesting, and the vocals hit way harder. If you’re looking for something equal parts\u00a0Immolation<\/strong> and\u00a0The Black Dahlia Murder<\/strong>, then get on this immediately.\u00a05\/25\/18<\/strong> (Spear)<\/p>\n
