{"id":9775,"date":"2014-10-07T15:00:50","date_gmt":"2014-10-07T20:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.toiletovhell.com\/?p=9775"},"modified":"2014-10-06T21:09:52","modified_gmt":"2014-10-07T02:09:52","slug":"sound-off-lets-hear-your-favorite-fall-albums","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toiletovhell.com\/sound-off-lets-hear-your-favorite-fall-albums\/","title":{"rendered":"Sound Off: Let&#8217;s Hear Your Favorite Fall Albums"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Now that we&#8217;re fully into the best goddamned month of the year, it&#8217;s time to spin\u00a0those albums that remind us of the season.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Since my neural net processor, a learning computer, is\u00a0currently suffering from the early strains of Ebola (or a cold, I&#8217;m not sure yet), I&#8217;m gonna keep this entry short &amp; sweet and let the songs and your comments do the talking.<\/p>\n<p>First\u00a0and foremost: since picking up\u00a0<strong>Author &amp; Punisher<\/strong>&#8216;s <em>Drone Machines<\/em>\u00a0on a cold night in early October a few years back, the bitter, haunting creep\u00a0of album opener Sand, Wind and Carcass has\u00a0become my favorite\u00a0herald for that first autumn\u00a0night when the never-ending procession of horror movies begins, the Halloween\u00a0decorations come out of storage, the pumpkin beer flows\u00a0and I start longingly looking for new silicone masks.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\"  style=\"display: block; margin: 0px auto;\"  id=\"_ytid_54338\"  width=\"320\" height=\"240\"  data-origwidth=\"320\" data-origheight=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/f65zWQdpxTw?enablejsapi=1&#038;autoplay=0&#038;cc_load_policy=0&#038;cc_lang_pref=&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;loop=0&#038;modestbranding=0&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;playsinline=1&#038;autohide=2&#038;theme=dark&#038;color=red&#038;controls=1&#038;\" class=\"__youtube_prefs__  epyt-is-override  no-lazyload\" title=\"YouTube player\"  allow=\"fullscreen; accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen data-no-lazy=\"1\" data-skipgform_ajax_framebjll=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>On the occasion that I\u00a0need to step out\u00a0into the woods (ov hell?) for a hike every now &amp; then to enjoy the blood-red, fire-orange and corpseflesh-yellow leaves, Ghost of Perdition from\u00a0<strong>Opeth<\/strong>&#8216;s <em>Ghost Reveries<\/em> hits that sweet spot of just enough heaviness mixed with\u00a0just enough melody &amp; atmosphere to complement the cooler air, the lengthening\u00a0nights, and the fact that I have to go home afterward and carve a pumpkin only I can&#8217;t carve a pumpkin for shit and always fuck the thing up and usually just stick a bunch of nails in it and say &#8220;it&#8217;s supposed to be Pinhead, see?&#8221; but screw it I love doing it anyway.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\"  style=\"display: block; margin: 0px auto;\"  id=\"_ytid_65028\"  width=\"320\" height=\"240\"  data-origwidth=\"320\" data-origheight=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MDBykpSXsSE?enablejsapi=1&#038;autoplay=0&#038;cc_load_policy=0&#038;cc_lang_pref=&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;loop=0&#038;modestbranding=0&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;playsinline=1&#038;autohide=2&#038;theme=dark&#038;color=red&#038;controls=1&#038;\" class=\"__youtube_prefs__  epyt-is-override  no-lazyload\" title=\"YouTube player\"  allow=\"fullscreen; accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen data-no-lazy=\"1\" data-skipgform_ajax_framebjll=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Finally, and I think\u00a0a lot of us share this opinion, is pretty much the entirety of\u00a0<strong>Type O Negative<\/strong>&#8216;s <em>October Rust<\/em>. Peter Steele was a towering god among men when it came to\u00a0penning lyrics about despair, nature and Halloween (sometimes all in the same song), and it&#8217;s clear this album was meant to be played on cold, rainy autumn days &amp; nights where you can fully embrace and enjoy the briefest, most beautiful of the seasons before the onset of winter all too quickly\u00a0wipes\u00a0it away with its\u00a0plummeting temperatures and four months of holiday season\u00a0jingles.
