I’d never heard Burning Palace before “Suspended in Emptiness”—a title that now accurately describes the wait until Friday. With Elegy, listeners can expect fragments of Artificial Brain‘s alien dissonance tempered by the extended-range grooves and melodicism of Atræ Bilis. This disso-lite approach marries the sting of skronk with (relatively) simple songwriting, effectively doubling the hooks plunged into our cerebrums. With guest vocals from Brendan Sloan (Convulsing) and Nick Botelho’s pristine production, we’ll all be seeing stars soon—and they will look back, with hungry eyes. -Roldy
