This week, we’ve got open windows, conflagrations on the horizon, and ΛLLCΛPS. It is truly the Spring of Splits, as everyone and their buds seem to be collaborating on releases. While the waters are relatively shallow this week, there are plenty of releases to make it worth the wade. As always, let us know what we missed in the comments!
Nuclear Tomb – Epoch Inhumane (Rotted Life Records) [Weirdo Deathrash]
Epoch Inhumane‘s artwork—depicting U.S. citizens navigating the healthcare system—mirrors the rickety, scattershot extremity within. On their sophomore LP, weirdo deathrashers Nuclear Tomb veer from volatile grind (replete with jarring dead-notes) and OSDM groove (“Falling Out the World of Lies”) to lurching rhythms and alien leads reminiscent of Blotted Science (“Unbowed and Averse”). Barbs of dissonance jut from unexpected interludes, and shred solos scream from the ether, keeping listeners on whichever toes remain after the fallout. While irradiated almost to the point of speciation, the band’s style still displays the rudiments of thrash; sickos old and new will surely find something (an extra arm perhaps?) to grab hold of.
