Ah dang it, they corrupted me again.

Take it from someone who feels bad all the time: the best way to deal with negative emotions is to pick up an instrument and bang out some tunes. Really, any form of creative catharsis is good, but playing death metal can be as strangely meditative as it is aggressive. Such was the case for Recorruptor on their newest album, Sorrow Will Drown Us All, a reflection on the strife one endures by simply existing in this world:

Recorruptor has spent the last five years fine-tuning each and every inch of their newest effort, ‘Sorrow Will Drown Us All’. Every moment of this record was born through a necessity to appropriately release the band’s deepest and darkest emotions. ‘Sorrow Will Drown Us All’ is the product of the grief and angst of our lives, manifested and released in the only way we know how – through honest and aggressive death metal.

Hard times call for hard jams, and Recorruptor has plenty right here. As the band so eloquently put it, this is honest and aggressive death metal, straightforward and encouraging of physical release of any bottled-up feelings. There are no frills to be found here, nothing flashy save for the band’s speed and precision; this is pure headbanging fodder. A deathcore-adjacent production job gives it an extra layer of sheen and punchiness, particularly in the drums. The thing about hard times is that they’re not always going to stop good times, and Sorrow Will Drown Us All is a good time made for hard times. Jam it in full today and pick it up when it hits later this week.

Sorrow Will Drown Us All releases on Friday, July 18th via Time To Kill Records. Check it out on Bandcamp
