FORESEEN bring you real Thrash from an imaginary land
Finland may or may not exist. I am the product of the American public school system so I really have no authority to make a definitive statement on the subject. The so-called “experts” will tell you that “Finland is is a Nordic country situated in the Fennoscandian region of Northern Europe” but I’ve never looked at a map that didn’t come with a packet of crayons so Finland might as well be an imaginary land accessible only via magical wardrobe. THAT BEING SAID, I recently checked out Helsinki’s Foreseen. Finland may not be real, but the thrash is.
Foreseen combine thrash and hardcore into a tasty crossover package that recalls D.R.I. and Leeway with a silly accent that makes the whole thing irresistible. They’ve been called Finland’s answer to Power Trip which is pretty much all I need to be completely sold on this band. But don’t just take my word for it. Stream “Market Target” from Foreseen’s debut LP Helsinki Savagery below. Not enough to tide you over? Lucky for you, the band has three 7″s you can stream over at their bandcamp (plus a bonus track from Helsinki Savagery!)
Helsinki Savagery will be out November 11th on 20 Buck Spin (purveyors of such fine jamz as Mammoth Grinder‘s Underworlds LP). Like those crazy Finns over on Facebook and tell ’em the Toilet says “Hei”.
The band is currently on tour but fuck if I’ve ever heard of any of these stops. Ann-twerp-en? The hell is that?
What do you think? Does this jam? Is it about friggin’ time I cover some friggin’ thrash? Let’s talk it out.
