Live Photos: Wretched Blessing and Glorious Depravity – Sleeping Village, Chicago (11/17/2025)
Wretched Blessing is Rae Amitay (of Immortal Bird) and Kayhan Vaziri (of the, apparently, now sadly defunct Yautja), a sludgy mass of slinking riffs with a big sound for just 2 people, bolstered by both members sharing vocal duties.
The members of Glorious Depravity come from just about every heavy-hitter in the underground – Woe, Pyhrron, the also-sadly-defunct Mutilation Rites. Their jackets? Leather. Their death metal? Old school. Their Gerontocrats? Slaughtered.
Sleeping Village is the coziest spot I’ve ever seen extreme music in, and the bands drew a surprisingly sizable and enthusiastic crowd for a Monday night. The dollar PBRs might’ve helped bring folks in, but the riffs are what sustained us.
