The 100% Pure Antifascist Scrub – March 2026 Edition

Share:

Welcome back to The 100% Pure Antifascist Scrub! As a reminder, my goal with this monthly feature is to introduce you to the best of antifascist music from the prior month. Antifascist themes are not required. Rather I look for the bands/projects to be publicly antifascist. Look for the article on the first Friday of each month. Every release included here has been vetted by me through conversation with the band, looking at their socials, talking to people in the scene who know, and/or through a long reputation of consistency in this regard.

As I write this, it is Trans Day of Visibility. I want to say clearly and unequivocally to all trans and gender non-conforming folks out there, you matter. I love you. I’m glad you’re here. I’m ready to help in whatever way I can.

Let’s get ready to scrub the fash away! (Remember, you can’t be a transphobe and an antifascist)

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a3289833495_10.jpgVenus-426 – Your Mom Asked Me To Make This (3/2/2026, Self-Release) [Noise]

Warning: The album and song titles may cause a spit take. There is definitely some irreverent humor going on and I’m here for it. One of my favorite noise artists brings it once again on this EP. Love it!

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a3435944616_10.jpgAthshean – Key XXVIII: The Anxiety of Entropy (3/6/2026, Windkey Tapes) [Techno]

I have no idea how Athshean makes such perfect techno. Engaging in ways that are absolutely mesmeric. I find myself, once again, drawn into a different state of consciousness.

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a4287604972_10.jpgQwälen – Veri virtaa edelleen (3/6/2026, Time To Kill Records) [Black Metal]

It’s fair to say that I never trust a black metal project unless I have positive proof that they are not sketchy or outright fash. This is especially true of certain scenes, among them the Finnish scene. That makes a band like Qwälen especially gratifying, because they are a Finnish black metal band openly pushing against fascism. Not only that, the record is really, really good punky blackness.

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a1053703348_10.jpgRosa Faenskap – Ingenting Forblir (3/6/2026, Fysisk Format Records) [Black Metal]

Mournful, angry, and powerful black metal. The pacing is on the slower side for much of the album, maybe even leaning towards post-black a bit, which works really well. From the promo materials: “Anti-fascism, environmentalism, queer rights and Palestinian liberation are among the political struggles addressed throughout the album.” Exceptional release!

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a3907738384_10.jpgDauðaró & Pantheïst – Af holdi og málmi (3/13/2026, Melancholic Realm Productions) [Funeral Doom]

You’ll need your patience for this one, as it’s about 77 minutes long, but believe me…it’s worth it. Take two solo projects that are pretty great in their own right, and then have them collaborate…well, that leads to this unique and mind-bending funeral doom experience.

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a4065371805_10.jpgNo/Más – No Peace (3/13/2026, Redefining Darkness Records) [Grindcore]

By now, this band probably doesn’t need a lot of introduction, but just in case you haven’t come across them, this Washington, DC quartet plays obliterating, take-no-prisoners deathgrind. The album title is fairly telling to me, calling to mind chants of “No Justice, No Peace.” Album art done by the ever incredible LGRDMN (Brian Sheehan), a friend and Detroit scene stalwart.

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a2091195601_10.jpgOndt Blod – Bauta (3/13/2026, Playground Music) [Melodic Hardcore Punk]

Catchy music and confrontational lyrics, often in the Sámi indigenous language of vocalist Aslak Heika Hætta Bjørn? Yes, please! I’ve actually been a fan of this band since Natur (2018) and I was thrilled to see that they are back. Bauta is just incredibly fun!

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a1053554591_10.jpgAttrition Cult – Epicaricacy (3/20/2026, Noxious Ruin) [War Metal]

Hailing from the bowels of Michigan, Attrition Cult play knuckle-dragging war metal. Brutality without mercy. If you ever get a chance, see them live. It’s an incredible experience. Bring your balaclava.

Dagerman – Di Fronte a Noi il Nulla (3/20/2026, Zegema Beach Records) [Screamo]

More primo screamo available from ZBR. In the last two years (since I discovered them), the label has become one of my most trusted for excellence and political soundness. This Italian band gives us melody and groove, as well as heaviness and abrasive edges.

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a1844583796_10.jpgIffernet – Life At Heart (3/20/2026, Vendetta Records/Fiadh Productions/Breathe Plastic/La Harelle) [Black Metal]

Nasty, dirty, raw black metal. I covered this album here.

Vëlh – Il Volto Della Luna (3/25/2026, Self-Release) [DSBM]

Waves of mournful riffs pour forth from this album. This hits a real sweet spot of sadness for those gloomy days. Well done by this solo Italian project.

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a0758177763_10.jpgAlicia Cordisco – My Restless Temple (3/27/2026, Self-Release) [Gothic/Power Metal]

Cordisco and friends (guest vocalists, primarily) explore a range of styles throughout this catchy, fun album. Fans of a variety of variations on traditional heavy metal and hard rock will surely find something to enjoy.

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a3838166102_10.jpgDionysiaque – La Tourbe Des Rêves (3/27/2026, I, Voidhanger) [Black/Doom Metal]

As is often the case with I, Voidhanger releases, this album is strange in so many wonderful ways. It really activates the synapses in my brain and takes me down strange mental corridors. Then there’s the following from the promotional materials: “While remaining utterly narrative in its execution, La Tourbe Des Rêves is not to be seen as a conceptual work, despite its strong political stance against fascism.” Outstanding. Solidarity and full support!

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a3505644825_10.jpgMordeo – Mordeo (3/27/2026, Hypaethral Records/Forever Never Ends Records/Shove Records) [Crust/Sludge]

Mordeo is an absolutely visceral experience. Nasty sludge wrapped around devastating crust. I have to say I’m not surprised, since the promo materials mentioned that the band featured a member of Amarok. That’s always a good sign. This pummels all the right spots.

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a3117458532_10.jpgThe Oldest House – The Art of Abysswalking (3/27/2026, I, Voidhanger Records) [Sludge Metal]

More strangeness from I, Voidhanger with the debut full length from this Spanish solo project. While thematically the project focuses on other topics, A.M. assured me that his personal beliefs align with what I’m doing here. Check out this slab of terror.

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a3750896354_10.jpgMage Hand – Mage Hand (3/29/2026, Self-Release) [Instrumental Black Metal]

Dense atmosphere conjured by the mastermind behind Moss Knight and Lucerne Hammer. Follow the deep pathways.
