Ah, hell.
I got caught up doing my job at work (the audacity of these people, making me do things for money instead of just giving it to me) and thus lost track of the day, leading to a late release roundup. Couple that with a fairly slow week in terms of new releases, and motivation was low besides. Anyway, here it is; let us know if there’s anything we missed.
Pull the Strings – Griefbloom (Independent) [Black Metal]
I’m pretty picky about black metal, but Griefbloom caught my eyes and ears partly because of that gorgeous artwork from Sylfvr and partly because this style of music done on low-tuned guitars (probably ERG) tickles my brain in a very specific way. My iPad baby brain stops screaming for the music to get to the point and is instead content to bask in the music’s varied textures. The album’s lyrics concern grief and healing, and the music is appropriately moving. I look forward to losing myself in this on full release. 8/7/26 (Spear)
