Exclusive Track Premiere: Dead Chasm’s “Spawn In Absurdity”

An unfathomable sum.
On May 16, 2025, Transcending Obscurity will release Dead Chasm’s latest EP, Spectral Tyranny. Following an EP and LP released via FDA Records, Spectral Tyranny finds the Italian trio in the familiar territory of the cosmic unknown. 2023’s Sublimis Ignotum Omni scattered itself into unquantifiability, embracing the ghostly and obscure. When we hear this kind of death/doom—think Krypts, Dead Congregation, Cruciamentum—we’re often drawn to metaphors of the gaping maw of a pitch-black cave. What howls and lurks in the chasmal void? What stalks across the walls in flitting, menacing shadow? Dead Chasm trades the alveolate for the astral, the dark grotto for the lightless galaxy. Lead single “Spectral Tyranny” lurches us into the ethereal beyond with speedy, tumbling riffs that eddy and dissolve like long-dead stars in our purblind eyes.
Today, we’re as thrilled as ever to bring you the similarly sidereal second single “Spawn in Absurdity.” The closing track of the EP as well as the only to crack the 5-minute mark, “Spawn in Absurdity,” continues to favour the death side of the death/doom divide. While the atmosphere of the song’s opening moments is as inhospitable and anaerobic as the inky madness ever-expanding between celestial bodies, much of the time is spent shifting effortlessly between a blazing Immolation-tinged space psychosis and a cosmically heavy d-beat churn ‘n burn.
About the track, the band had this to say:
…
Nothing! The band had nothing to say because when the specter of tyranny drops its phantom cloak and reigns over our terrestrial and extraterrestrial lives with such horrid, stupid brutality, where does one even begin? Breathless and gagged yet furious and looming.
So hit play below to hear an exclusive stream of “Spectral Tyranny” while fighting the very corporeal tyranny of our world.
