Take a peek inside.

The Mosaic Window, brainchild of Andrew Steven Brown, whipped enough sack with Plight of Acceptance to catch the attention of both Rolderathis, who put it on his top 10 of last year, and Willowtip, who decided they wanted a piece of the whippage and signed the act posthaste. Mere months later, our collective sacks are imperiled once again with the impending release of their second LP, and we’ve got the first single from it here for you today. Hemasanctum sees Brown joined by Gabe Seeber of Abigail Williams and Vale of Pnath on drums- a perfect pedigree for the band’s tasteful blend of melodic death and black metal- and “The Pounding of Hooves” is an excellent first taste of what the record has to offer. Its moody chording and punchy riffs are touched up with just enough instrumental flair to make it interesting without being overbearingly technical, and it’s given some extra spice with a guest solo from Andy LaRocque of King Diamond fame (who makes a second appearance later on in the album). If this doesn’t get you excited, then check your damn pulse. Check out “The Pounding of Hooves” and see what Brown has to say about the album’s concept:

Hemasanctum is a concept album that explores my current thoughts on life, relationships (parent-child), and loss. While it may or may not be obvious, the album starts with a song about birth and ends with a song about death. In between are songs intentionally out of order (like the roller-coaster timeline we all experience) subtly relating to topics like self-awareness, mental health, abortion, religion, and grief.

Hemasanctum releases November 15th via Willowtip.
