This Toilet Tuesday (9/4/18)
Welcome to This Toilet Tuesday! It is that most magical time of week again, in which we gorge ourselves on new music and loll around on our distended ear-bellies. Hans and I have brought only the tastiest of morsels to the table, but don’t let that distract from the feast below. Get drunk and fat on metal.

This is very different from what I usually like, so I don’t quite trust the whole thing, but right now, the catchy riff is really doing it for me, and the vocals are captivating, if a bit theatric. Bold use of the cowbell, and the drumming on the whole is very pleasant and adds enough neat flourishes and ideas to show character. Also did not see that twist at the end coming. All in all, weirdly enjoyable. 9/7/18 (Hans)

Much as I like big, dumb, knuckle-dragging death metal, I like it even better when a band can throw some twists into the formula. Metal Archives tells me Monstrosity have been around for awhile (as previously established, Spear no nothing about ODSM), and that shows in their music. This is pure vicious death metal with just enough technical aptitude behind it to keep it interesting, and it’s technical in the same way as old Morbid Angel and Gorguts; no bouncy, sugary “tech death” to be found here. It carries the weight of experience behind it, and the three songs out now have me itching for more. 9/7/18 (Spear)

Folky melodic black metal with violin? Sign me the fuck up. This is one of those things that I don’t really have a ton to say about despite liking it quite a bit; it’s atmospheric but doesn’t skimp on riffs, and the production sounds fantastic, so there you go.
