Malignant Aura – Abysmal Misfortune Is Draped upon Me (Bitter Loss Records) [Death Doom]

Hearing the HM-2 slicing across a doom album was a little jarring at first, but it only took a couple minutes for me to adjust to Malignant Aura’s take on the genre. It’s slow and sad as one might expect, but surprisingly scummy given the band’s choice of tone, and it makes for a pretty intense listen despite the generally low tempo.
