Premiere: Serocs – “Building A Shrine Upon Vanishing Sands”
Time 2 get eat-fucked
I’m not here to ask why a band names their album after a self-ingestion fetish; that’s simply one of the many wondrous mysteries of life, perhaps one we were never meant to understand. No, I’m here to help that band bring you their music, those sweet, sweet riffs begging to be consumed by your eager ears. Maybe that’s why the record is called Vore?
ANYWAY
Serocs is a band that lives and dies by the strength of their riffs, and the song they’ve got for you today has some of their best yet. “Building A Shrine Upon Vanishing Sands” is the quintessential Serocs song, fast and ferocious, walking that fine line between perfect control and absolute chaos. If you’ve listened to the band, it’s what you’ve come to expect from them; the difference, however, is in their consistency. The band has always had rock-solid riff power, but it’s more focused and better paced- this type of speedy, complicated tech death always has problems sticking with listeners, but I feel like this album will have no such difficulties. It has more distinct parts and is much more easily comprehended than most bands in this category, and that’s what makes this song as awesome as it is. Well, that and the glorious Phil Tougas guest solo. Check it out:
Vore releases on June 26th via Everlasting Spew, and it’s available digitally on Bandcamp for a paltry €4. As you’re likely aware, today is a great day to pick it up; Bandcamp is waiving their cut of purchases, so everything is going to the bands and labels. You can also follow Serocs on Facebook, so go show them some Toilet love.
