Full Album Premiere: K AMON K — Arca Ende Aeterna
Battements de souffle français hivernaux.
As winter begins to drape her icy raiment over us (here in L’Étoile du Nord it’s snowing as I type this), what better way to celebrate than with some cold, melancholic black metal by way of France?
K AMON K’s first release, Arca Ende Aeterna, is “Furious, Inspiring, Magical Black Metal to die for” and a fine accompaniment to a frosty, dreary day. Furious in that there’s plenty of meat n’ potatoes (uhhhh, viande et pomme de terre?) black metal riffin’, blasting’, and hollerin’. Inspiring in its arrangements, especially the evocative guitar and clean singing in “Voyageur”. And magical in the synth melodies and ambience it intertwines with whirling, winding guitar lines. A bit more background on the band and the creation of Arca Ende Aeterna from the label:
“Hailing from France, K AMON K is a new dark Entity created by veterans of the French Black Metal scene, who have known each other for over 20 years. At first it was the work of two musicians (Kra Cillag & Kzg), but they were soon joined by Kra Altar (drums) and then Fyr (bass). Due to the geographical distance between each member of the group, the recording had to be spread over several months, with a simple, natural and very efficient writing process, keeping each song essential and pure. The band took great care to create unique and original synth sounds to bring real ambiences, more than simple layers. The French lyrics, on the other hand, reflect a personal journey, carried by a voice that has been worked as an instrument in its own right during the compositions of the album.”
