Take me to the riverbed
“Rotting in bed” has become an oft-used phrase, especially among the younger generations. For some, it’s simply a phrase for hanging around and scrolling on your phone. For others, it’s a euphemism for depression. The ambiguity takes away some of the severity of mental illness and I suppose that’s the point. A better, more severe term, may be something like becoming “One With The Riverbed”.
One With The Riverbed are a five-piece post-metal/atmospheric black metal band from Kalamazoo, Michigan who specialize in the sounds of deep-seeded anguish and despair. Similar to bands like An Autumn, Ghost Bath, and Møl, OWTR rage with the passion of a destructive mind and chaotic soul hear on their latest track, ‘Erode’. Overcome with explosive emotion, yet tempered with introspective beauty, ‘Erode’ exemplifies what the band’s upcoming album Succumb is capable of producing. Soon we will be fading away, the weight of life dragging us down, sinking into the darkness, and truly becoming one with the riverbed.

“Erode” is the sixth track on Succumb. True to its name, the song showcases intense climactic bursts with moments of decay, serving as a central anchor within the album. Lyrically, it reflects on memories lost and new ones gained, exploring the transient nature of existence.
