Egregore – It Echoes in the Wild (20 Buck Spin) [Blackened Death]

It Echoes in the Wild is a strange beast, a sort of living fossil that survives by utilizing ancient structures for novel behaviors. Vestiges of punk form the simple, driving grooves and barked vocals of “Stair Into the Vortex, “and the album’s production recalls the still air of OSDM. While the sound is somewhat muffled, there’s a pleasant live-recording quality that envelops listeners in Egregore’s world—one of nervous energy and chaos. The deluge of vocal styles in “Servants of the Second Death” would fit right in with the esoteric weirdos of the I, Voidhanger roster, and the album’s marriage of melodic and dissonant black metal ensures fans from both old and new schools will find something to grimace at (laudatory).
