Album Premiere: BEAR – Propaganda
What first caught my interest about BEAR was that they were billed as a progressive hardcore band. “What does that sound like, exactly?” I thought to myself. Well, brave toileteers, let’s find out together.
If you’re big on the progressive end of things then BEAR probably won’t feel adventurous enough on that end, and if you’re big on the hardcore end then BEAR probably won’t go far enough into that realm for your tastes either, though that’s great news for me since it means there won’t be any Karate Kens bursting in out of nowhere trying to break my glasses and ruin my day.
Propaganda is a bottom-heavy album for me, with tracks like “Stigmata” and “The Ram” having interesting instrumentals, “The Engine” with its black metal-esque drive, “Flares” with its odd rhythms and quick changes to clean singing that give an almost J-metal feel.
But hey, enough talking, we’ve got an exclusive album premiere for you. Let us know what you think.
Propaganda drops May 8 through Pelagic Records and you can find it here:
