Flush It Friday: “To the kids, who fought and lost to time…”

“I’ll see you soon.”

Though I really have spent the week just listening to “Fake Jeezy” and “Your Echo” on a bizarre kind of loop, I also gave myself over to the following lovely pieces of music.

Worrystone Worrystone
Fiadh Productions | January 9, 2026

Look at the beautiful brown cassette! I’d like to see those gone by day’s end. Fittingly for the season, arctic atmospheres move, bluster, and blast behind the dark tones of Worrystone’s latest gothic poetry-inspired dungeon/fantasy synth album. Parts one and two of “A Forlorn Summit” recall John Cooke’s Jungfrau, wherein a figure traipses along the titular Alp. A similar mood, though perhaps even more imposing, infuses standout “Moon-Touched,” the slightest of drumbeats echoing underneath it all. As we prepare for whatever this latest storm brings, nevermind the “Pall Over the Vale.” Raise your “Swords Against Ice” and protect one another.

No PulseMine Eye is Consumed with Grief
Independent | December 13, 2025

Atlanta has a frustrating lack of vegan food. (It’s frustrating in a lot of ways, but let’s focus on this for now.) Even when great vegan restaurants open, they, with few exceptions, struggle to gain any footing. Pizza Verdura Sincera, which moved into an abandoned Zesto’s in Little Five Points, makes excellent vegan ‘za. Driving by few Fridays ago, it was empty. For better or worse, they’re starting to book punk shows in the restaurant. Is that a good sign?

Probably not! Atlanta grindfreaks No Pulse will be playing a show there in February. Let’s start a pizza box war.

Suicide Eyes Demo 2025
Independent | February 26, 2025

I’m damn near an entire calendar late to this demo from Philly’s Suicide Eyes, but word is they’ll be releasing their debut record in the coming months, so it’s none too soon. Named after an American Nightmare lyric, covering Philly legends Horror Show (Domenic from Nothing’s band!), and even naming a track “Kids Like Us” had me salivating before I ever hit play. Rooted in the emotionally raw sounds of the early 00s, particularly and obviously Background Music and A Life Less Plagued, Suicide Eyes is for all the kids who mosh with a broken heart. “Get better? Fuck better.”
