News Roundup: Game Of Thrones, CHON, SKINLESS, Misery Index, Agalloch, Kendrick Lamar, Death Grips and more!
Physicists say that sound travels faster in water than it does in air. Apparently, the corner of the Atlantic I’m currently residing in wasn’t informed, because news have been travelling as slow as a Sunn O))) record. Being the resourceful deity I am, I still managed to find some of that new new to present to you. Get informed right after the jump.
Do you like Game of Thrones [CLICK HERE. — Masterlord]? Do you like metal and/or rap? Have you ever looked up to the sky and asked for Ty Dolla $ign next to Anthrax on the same release? If you said yes to any of these questions, you will be excited to know that the new GoT mixtape, suitably named Catch The Throne II, is up for free download and appreciation on Soundcloud. Besides the NYC thrashers, metal is represented by Mastodon, Mushroomhead and Killswitch Engage. If you’re a poser hip hop head like myself there is also plenty to look forward to, including Snoop Dogg, Method Man and many more. Stab below and get psyched for the new season!
You’ll have to wait until March 23rd to buy the new CHON album. You can, however, stream the entire thing on Sumerian Records‘ YouTube page by stabbing here. CHON is touring with Circa Survive plus Balance and Composure right now, and you can catch the tour dates on the aforementioned link.
Brutal death metal legends SKINLESS have finally reunited. Not only that, but they already have a finished record, entitled Only The Ruthless Remain, scheduled to wreak havoc on CD, Vinyl and digital formats on June 2nd via Relapse Records. If this isn’t enough to get you excited, know that, aside from adding new guitar-bro Dave Matthews (I know what you’re thinking), they will play with the same formation they did on their 1998 debut Progression Towards Evil, featuring Sherwood Webber on vokills, Noah Carpenter on guitar, Joe Keyser on bass and Bob Beaulac on drums. If this still wasn’t enough to get you excited, look at the LP cover below. Stay tuned for further updates.

This week has been crazy for hip hop fans, and I highly suggest you get acquainted with the most important releases even if this type of music is not your usual jam.
Kendrick Lamar has dropped an 80-minute monster of an album in To Pimp A Butterfly, a record that might end up as AOTY for me. You can stream it on Spotify by stabbing here.
Earl Sweatshirt‘s new album I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside will be out on 3/23. I expect a lot of evolution since his previous effort. Stab here and watch the video for “Grief”.
Death Grips were supposed to drop the second part of double disc The Powers That B, entitled Jenny Death, on 3/18. They didn’t, but at least we have the first “official” information on the release. See below. Expect a lot of Toilet writers to disappear for a while.
Watch the video for the excellent track “On GP” right here.
Which one of these make your heart start racing? Are there any other news plaguing your simple human brain?
