News bloody news.

It’s always a fun little surprise when metal sneaks its way into a show on network television. NBC’s Superstore, which was recently renewed for a second season, prominently played Sepultura’s “Roots Bloody Roots” on the episode “All-Nighter”. You can watch the entire episode (and you should because it’s pretty funny) here. The music kicks in at about the 1:00 mark.

The lineup for Psycho Las Vegas has been announced. The three-day fest will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and will feature Blue Oyster Cult, Sleep, Pentagram, Candlemass, Converge, Boris, Mac Sabbath, Yob, Elder, Zombi, and a ton of other bands. Sounds like a fun time… or at least the part of it you’ll remember sounds like fun. Also, there’s a band called “Beelzefuzz”. That’s adorable.

Former Roadrunner Records alums Mutiny Within recently patched up their differences and have begun recording new music. The band has posted a few clips of the sessions on their Facebook page and had this to say:

Things are moving along a lot, lot quicker than we anticipated. We’ve already got songs coming together and being demoed. The chemistry that made this band so special when we started out has never been stronger and we’re literally tripping over new ideas and we’re so excited to be doing this again. Things have been really quiet for us for so many years but that break seems like it’s breathed new life into the band. We’ve got that fire back that made Mutiny Within what it was.

Most of you know that we had a lot of dark days after we departed from the roster of Roadrunner Records and it’s hard to believe we’ve never actually been in the same room since December of 2010. We started our first tour being great friends and as time went on, more things went wrong, and our friendships became strained.

But, here we are in 2016 working together as a whole band, all be it over an ocean but that isn’t holding us back. So thanks for sticking with us.

This next release is going to be strong. We’ve incorporated those classic MW progressive elements, and most importantly we’re having the time of our lives making new music.

Danish Power/Prog metallers Anubis Gate have launched a new Kickstarter campaign. The band is looking to raise $18,000 to release a limited-edition 6-disc box set that will include re-releases of their first four out-of-print albums. With about 40 days to go, the band is almost halfway to their goal.

The band is offering much in the way of “swag”, but you can still pledge a relatively small amount of money to get the box set. Enjoy their album “Andromeda Unchained” while you pry open your wallet.

Shadow Woods Metal Fest just got even cooler with the edition of Mongolian folk metal band Tengger Calvary. They join an already great lineup featuring A Sound of Thunder, Acid Witch, Coffin Dust, and more. Check out the lineup announced so far here.

Remember when we reported last week that Fade Kainer from Batillus/Statiqbloom had his van stolen? A bunch of people, including members of the music world, banded together and started a GoFundMe to help Fade replace the van. In less than a week, the page raised over the initial goal of $3,000. Yay!

Fans of Dog Fashion Disco and all of their side projects rejoice. A three-day weekend this summer has been set aside by the various bands to perform. Starting on August 5th, Knives Out will be playing all of their albums Relentless and Black Mass Hysteria with psychodance party Polkadot Cadaver. This will be the only show for both bands for the entire year.

The next day, DFD’s vocalist Todd Smith will do an El Creepo set celebrating the release of his new album Bellisimo!

If that’s not enough, Dog Fashion Disco will be playing for 2 hours, including a full performance of their album Adultery.

El Drugstore (ex-East Of The Wall) gave a surprise update on their Facebook page stating plans for a new album. For the uninitiated, listen to their excellently titled song “Hipster Tits“. Definitely for fans of Dysrhythmia, Behold…The Arctopus, and Intronaut.
