Premiere: Constrict – Cattle

Moove out of the way
Despite all that is going on in the word, there are some people out there that think everything is fine. Good, even. They are happy in their ignorance and blessed to not have the curse of awareness. They work, they eat, they watch network TV, they sleep. Wash, rinse, repeat. I don’t know how it’s possible, but millions of people do it, blissfully unaware that things keep getting worse. Comfortable. Complacent. These people will outlive us all, free of fear, stress, and the crushing weight of life.
Germany’s Constrict hold no such illusions with the new song and video “Cattle”. Their blasting grindcore shakes those of us that have been sleeping for too long. There’s no way out of the system. We are stuck in our cubicles, our workstations, and behind the wheel of our cars. Marching towards a pointless end, still thinking we’ve made it to the top.
The band says:
With “Cattle” we attack the illusion of the “anything is possible” mantra of meritocracy. We are told that everyone has the same chances and that failure is only our own fault. But in reality, we are part of a system that reduces us to cattle – consumable, replaceable, exploitable. The song is a scream against the lie of upward mobility through compliance, against the delusion of chance fed to us by money, power, and fame. For us, grindcore, (or whatever you want to call our music) is the outlet to channel this disillusionment and rage into brutal energy. “Cattle” is the realization: we are not the butchers, we are the slaughtered.
Warning: The video shows slaughterhouse footage. If, like me, you don’t want to see that, click play to listen to the song and open another tab.
Constrict’s EP Kadavergehorsam is out on October 3rd, 2025 via 7Degrees Records (Germany), Loner Cult Records (Belgium), and 783Label (UK).
