This Toilet Tuesday (4/3/18)

It is once again Toilet Tuesday, and we are bringing you all the new music you can handle. It’s a bit light on excitement this week, but Lacertilian, Bert Banana, and I uncovered a couple nasty jams for you to slam. Check those out, then pick through that list to see if there’s anything else we need to hear.

Above Aurora Path To Ruin (Pagan Records) [Black Metal]
Stream Path To Ruin

Hard to really be blamed if you missed Above Aurora‘s Onwards Desolation back in 2016, the Polish band’s debut dropped during a swarm of big name releases, in what was already shaping up to be a monumental year for black metal. However, if you miss this them this time, you’re really fucking up. The band have kept the dynamic atmosphere intact but amplified the intensity of essentially all the elements of their sound many times over; the results speak for themselves. If you feel at home with the hypnotic resolve of Mgła|Kriegsmaschine, the deliberate and steady poise of Blaze Of Perdition, or just the existential dread of modernity, then you better not let Path To Ruin slip by. 4/6/18 (Lacertilian)

Oxygen Destroyer – Bestial Manifestations of Malevolence and Death (Independent) [Brutal Thrash?]

Before I talk about what you’re going to hear on this majestic release, direct your attention to that artwork. You have two kaiju-style monsters fighting in the middle of some fucking suburb. You know damn well that Godzilla-esque monster is going to fuck that other one up large. Peace out, dawg. It’s been nice. Beside them is a burning house on a hill or some shit. It wouldn’t be kaiju style if there wasn’t some human collateral damage. You know everyone in that house is fucked. It’s such a beautiful piece that it should be sufficient enough to spend the $6 on this piece. BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE! Oxygen Destroyer (great name btw) bring the fucking goods and live up to the artwork. In both tracks, “Bio-Mechanically Imprisoning the Sacred Beast of the Apocalypse” (great song title, btw) and “Supersonic Devastator” (rad song title, btw) are just rife with blistering blasts and dizzying riffs. Vocals have a bit of a Skeletonwitch vibe from the good ol’ days when Chance was singing with them. Combined, they create a whirlwind of sweet fucking destruction that leaves no survivors. Production wise, I have no complaints. There’s no fancy shit or stupid conspiracy theory/libertarian bullshit. Just straight up “thrash your face off” thrash. It’s brilliant! 4/5/18 (Bert Banana)

Garroted – Of Damnation and Abyssal Terrors (Independent) [Death Metal]
Listen to “Crimson Thirst”

Slow as this week is for new music, it’s certainly not lacking in rad cover art. Knights fighting a bunch of demons pouring from a sky anus? I’m sold. Garroted don’t slack in the musical department, either. “Crimson Thirst” gives you some of that blistering death metal that made Sewercide so fun, but with a slightly heavier leaning towards Adramelech-style stuff. Check this out if you need something to crush your skull. 4/6/18 (Spear)
