Tech Death Thursday: Devoured Elysium – “Deus Ex Machina” Premiere
It’s Tech Death Thursday, and it’s time to get nasty.
We here at the Tech Death Division of Toilet ov Hell have a healthy level of respect for our friends in the brutal death metal sphere. There’s an art to that kind of savagery, and being able to make something so complex yet so unabashedly ignorant is no small task. It’s a surprisingly delicate balancing act, but the results speak for themselves when it’s successful.
So while our premiere today might not be tech death in the strictest sense, I am more than happy to present the newest single from Devoured Elysium, “Deus Ex Machina.” The Turkish brutal death metallers strike that aforementioned balance with expert proficiency; slams and serpentine riffs are presented in equal measure, extreme care given to not let either overstay their welcome at any given moment. I’m a fan of the cleaner production here as well, letting the guitar tone carry all the grime while the overall polished sound lets the instruments all stand out. It’s as brutal as it is technical, and to put it succinctly, it bangs. Says the band of the new single:
Deus Ex Machina reflects the most aggressive aspects of our 2nd album, Void Grave. Our single is about the people who are waiting to be saved by a savior. As you know, “Deus Ex Machina” is a cinema cliché and represents a miraculous escape from difficult situations. In this song, we are talking about people who try to show the lies among the heavenly salvation and magic miracles
Void Grave releases on February 18th via Gore House Productions. Follow Devoured Elysium on Facebook if you’re into that as well. That’s all for now, so until next time,
