Happy solstice! In celebration of the changing of seasons, I’ve brought you all this week’s new metal album releases. They’re all garbage!
Well, maybe that’s a bit harsh, but almost none of this list speaks to me in any way. I did find one album that was pretty sweet (highlighted below), but this was overall a pretty dry week as far as I could tell. Hit that list below and let me know if there’s something besides Hallucinator that doesn’t blow.
Hallucinator – Nightmare Idol (Independent) [Death Thrash]

Oakland’s Hallucinator toes the line between thrash, black, and death metal, and Nightmare Idol is a fiery mélange of each of them. Their style is primal, archetypal maybe to the point of being primitive, but I get the distinct feeling these guys aren’t trying to break new ground here. And that’s perfectly fine; this shit bangs, and I suspect you’ll get plenty of enjoyment if you’re looking for something that hearkens back to the emergent days of USDM. 12/22/21 (Spear)
