This Toilet Tuesday (1/11/22)
It’s Toilet Tuesday once again, and it’s a damn fine one at that; this legitimately might be the strongest release week in January that I’ve seen since taking over this whole TTT endeavor. We’ve got death metal, we’ve got black metal, power metal, crust, deathcore; just about anything you could look for is getting something notable this week. Descent – Order of Chaos (Brilliant Emperor Records) [Death Metal]

If you like the sound of HM-2 but want it applied to something that isn’t just Entombed Clone 2000, then look no further. Descent’s strength lies in smart melodic riffing that channels the appropriate amount of aggression one would expect from a band using the dirtiest distortion pedal in existence. Basically, it has the buzzsaw sound but not the stereotypical buzzsaw songs, and the three tunes up for listening now all have very different feels to them. It’s got me intrigued enough that it’s going to be the first thing in my queue come Friday. 1/14/22 (Spear)
