Witch Ripper – The Flight After the Fall (Magnetic Eye Records) [Whatever You Call Mastodon or Baroness]
The best unsigned band in Washington is back, albeit no longer unsigned, but also arguably better than ever. That genre tag will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from this- big riff prog doom with some big emotions attached- and they bring their own unique twist to the sound. There’s some cool major key stuff going on with this that befits the album’s sci-fi concept, and it’s damn near impossible to listen to without it putting a big grin on your face. 3/3/23 (Spear)
