Wildhunt – Aletheia (Jawbreaker Records) [Thrash / Speed / Trad Metal]
Wildhunt’s concoction of trad metal bravado, knotty tech thrash, and prog song structures caught my ear immediately; it’s a sound that perches perfectly on the border between classic and extreme styles, allowing for both comfort and excitement at once. Preview track “The Holy Pale” channels Sumerlands swagger, the gritty speed metal of Somewhere Far Beyond-era Blind Guardian (I hear a hint of Hansi in the vocals), and even some spidery Carcassian riffs, while the title track explores proggier climes during its extended runtime. If the rest of Aletheia matches the quality of these singles, we’ll have quite the wellspring to draw from in the early days of 2026. -Roldy
