Anyway, Roldy’s been involved in a standoff with FDA enforcers since last Wednesday, so I’m taking over new release duty this week. This is a rare one where I don’t know like any of these bands, and I only listened to half of them or so before nearly deciding that all music was dead and nothing means anything anymore, but the day was saved in the 11th hour by an absolute heater of a record. Pore over that list and share anything else that might make life worth living again.
A Flock Named Murder – Incendiary Sanctum (Hypaethral Records) [Deathened Black Metal]
Rarely does one hear anything black-metal-adjacent that sounds as colossal as the forge-hearted skeleton on this cover art. A Flock Named Murder does it by blending it with some monstrous doom sections and vocals as molten as the stream from a smelting furnace. If those are riffs pouring out of there, then you can happily count me among the tiny dudes down there joyously basking in the inferno. Our boy Brock covered this one a little bit ago, so if you missed it then, let this serve as a reminder to jam this fucker in full when it lands this Friday. There’s even a second track up now!
