As if half the continent being on fire and crushing heatwaves weren’t bad enough, metal bands continue to release new music in the summer of ’26. While this sin may be unforgiveable, at least it’ll give us some sick jams to crank up to tune out the sound of the world collapsing around us. Anyway, here’s music.
Nothingness – Godslaughter (Everlasting Spew Records) [Death Metal]
I really appreciate a band that can turn on a dime from aggressive ignorance to tastefully brainy riffs, and Nothingness is very good at both. Either way, it’s big down-tuned ugliness that carries hints of Morbid Angel and old-school Gorguts, and it’s great. They’re not reinventing the wheel here, but I guarantee you have never before heard a glunch this trenchant. 7/31/26 (Spear)
