Flush It Friday: Knee’ding Help

I regret to inform you your goat may be washed.

I made the decision to go see a few hardcore/deathcore/whatever bands last night at a local bar. All three acts were great and I had a lot of fun, but I had an unfortunate occurrence – I finally sustained a mosh-induced injury. The first set of the night, a big fellow wearing a Five Finger Death Punch camouflage shirt and loose baggy jeans knocked me over in the pit. This is usually a common happening, as a strong gust of wind could potentially knock me over on the right day. More often than not, I’m back on my feet with no problem.

This time, however, I landed funny on my right knee and the rest of the show I was oscillating between a mildly sore leg and a level of pain that made it hard to walk. Be it healing or adrenaline, I managed to shake the uncomfort and enjoy the rest of the night. Yet, while icing my knee after the show, I began to worry about the condition of my appendage. Would it hurt this bad tomorrow? Am I reaching the age where a mild sprain turns into a massive pain problem? Am I just exceptionally fragile for my age? I tossed and turned all night, feeling as if my position as a frontline mosh reporter was in question.

This morning, the leg still hurts and, as you read this, I’m currently working through the pain, still intent on going to another show tonight, sans the pit action. I am getting through it, but not without some mild limping and not-so-mild cursing. Maybe I’m soon to be washed, but maybe I tumbled out of the womb washed. Regardless, I did not learn my lesson and you can look forward to a part two of this, live from the local hospital.

But enough whining, we’ve got a week to flush!
