This Toilet Tuesday (4/2/19)
It is once again Toilet Tuesday, and we have the week’s new releases gathered in one place for your convenience. This week’s list is a little bit on the small side, though I think that’s more owing to some rushed research than anything. So if you notice that there’s something big (or small) missing from the list, post it in the comments; I’m sure something got missed that deserves a highlight.
Friisk – De Doden Van’t Waterkant (Vendetta Records) [Black Metal]

I’ve spent the better part of two full listens of De Doden Van’t Waterkant trying to articulate exactly what it is about it that I like so much, but words are failing right now. Something about the combination of tone, multiple vocal styles, and motion of the riffs just all comes together in a super satisfactory way that’s hard to describe. Maybe it’s the slightly different take on the atmospheric aspect of their sound in that rather than waxing violent about trees, the feeling they conjure matches their tempestuous cover art. If you’re looking for something monumentally stupid to fill your ignorance quota for the week, Cumbeast has you covered. As with most goregrind, these guys revel in toilet humor and bask in slams, but wouldn’t you know it, they can actually riff, too. The only thing it lacks is some godawful rapping. 3/31/19 (Spear)
