Premiere: Chicago’s Mordatorium Are Eager For The “Biting Cold”
The Year of Death Metal just got a bit grosser.
In this, the year of our lord two thousand and seventeen, death metal has thoroughly asserted its dominance over the extreme music landscape. Sure, there have been quality black, doom, and grindcore albums this year, but death metal has not only matched them in quality, it has far succeeded them in quantity. I’d even go so far as to say that for every 3 terrible atmospheric black metal albums that have been released on bandcamp this year there has been a quality death metal album! A bold claim, I know.
If you’re of the mindset that there is no way that this pace can be upheld, well I’ve got good news for you friend: the hits are just going to keep on coming, and Mordatorium are here to prove it to you. Hailing from the heavy metal hotbed of Chicago, Mordatorium play a fuzzy, crunchy style of death metal in the same vein as Entrails or Grave, but if either of those bands had been raised in a cave beneath a swamp. That is to say it’s straightforward, it’s filthy, and it’s catchy as hell.
Today I’m stoked to bring you a new cut entitled “Biting Cold” from their upcoming, self released album Obsessed with Death. As the name suggests it really has some bite to it, steadily chugging along, withholding the full brunt of its ferocity until the perfect moment. As per usual, don’t just take my word for it. Smash that mf’ing play button below and get bitten by the cold.
Obsessed with Death is being self released on August 25th. You can preorder it here and give the band a like on Facebook here.
