Huh. That’s…that’s certainly the None So Vile album art done up with anime people. That’s something you might find on a site like Teepublic where mashups and parodies run wild. Maybe even a shady third party website like Redbubble or TeeWorksUSA. Not officially sold by the band on IndieMerchstore. It’s just so unexpected. Like, this feels like it was something that would have been on Tumblr 12 years ago. Or DeviantArt 20 years ago.
In the pantheon of heavy metal weebs, I don’t recall Cryptopsy being one of them, but maybe this is their anime coming out party. They are no longer held down by the shackles of extreme metal’s rigid confines. Cryptopsy is free to Naruto run on stage, do some Dragon Ball Z poses before ripping into the next song, and doing some other sort of anime reference thing since that’s about the limit to my knowledge of the subject.
Which member of the band is the anime fan? Have they always been into it? Did Flo go down a deep, dark path after The Unspoken King. Can we expect more of this from Cryptopsy? Are we going to get a special None So Vile set at Anime Expo next year? Will Lord Worm come back to the band with Super Saiyan hair?! Only time and the power of friendship will tell.
