FLUSH IT FRIDAY: I’VE SEEN FOOTAGE
Sup, stinkers?
Normally when I write a Flush it Friday, I try to have some kind of uplifting message. I hope you haven’t gotten too used to that though, because today my one and only purpose is to tell you about a movie I just watched.
It’s called The Intern. It stars Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway. It’s about an elderly man who decides to apply for a position as an intern at a fashion company. At first he feels out of place and of little use in the world of 21st-century workplace culture, but as he slowly adapts (and as others adapt around him), he eventually becomes an indispensable part of the company. I won’t say too much more but if you want a movie to watch with a couple of friends that will just make you feel good, I can wholeheartedly recommend it.
Now if you want a movie that absolutely sucks, might I recommend Gravity? I had a friend who hyped this movie up to no end. I didn’t have the chance to see it in theaters, so I ordered the movie in the mail from Netflix (remember when they did that?). Here’s my brief synopsis of the plot: Sandra Bullock is part of a space crew. A big ol’ chunk of whatever bumps into her and George Clooney and sends them flying. George gets his face bashed in and Sandra Bullock has to float around in space on her own. From then on out, it’s just an 75 minutes of her breathing heavily. I think around an hour in I turned off the movie, googled how it ended, and called my friend to tell him he was wrong.
I still hated it less than I hate Hocus Pocus though. And don’t even get me started on Elf. But enough of my controversial movie opinions! We’ve got some flushing to do!
