It’s Toilet Tuesday, and it’s a big one today; the list is pretty sizable, and it’s fairly eclectic to boot. Karhu’s dishing the goods on a handful of albums today, and there’s way more to pick from if none of those tickle your fancy. Share your own picks down below.

Cardinals Folly – Defying the Righteous Way (Rafchild Records) [Doom]
Listen

Cardinals Folly scored a bullseye three years back with Deranged Pagan Sons so I’m, as they say, excitebike for their new album. The punked-up approach of “Deranging the Priest” sees them rougher and rowdier than ever while “Strange Conflict” hearkens back to a classic style; what they’ve in common is doom metal excellence. Can’t also wait to hear what the shit that’s been shot about black metal on this album is about because black metal Reverend Bizarre is a thing I didn’t know I needed in my life until now. 3/6/20 (Karhu)

Clouds – Durere (Independent) [Death/Doom]
Stream

Daniel Neagoe is keeping busy even after terminating roughly 80% of his numerous bands and memberships. On once-and-again solo project Clouds latest, he stitches together the sadboi (post-) rock and funeral doom styles that have dominated his career. Though the two don’t as much meet as take turns, Durere contributes a few choice moments of slowboi goodness (goddamn that violins and whistles/flutes over doomass dragging on “The Sailor Waves Goodbye” hits hard) that are perfect for this lousy Smarch weather. 3/1/20 (Karhu)

Tribe of Pazuzu – King of All Demons (Independent) [Blackened Death Metal]
Listen to “King of All Demons”

John from Incantation (has a mustache too), Flo from Cryptopsy and that one dude who took over for bass in Pestilence from van Drunen for about 8 minutes. What more do you want to know? Slightly blackened, atmospheric death metal built on tension and repetitive tremolo riffs, with a thick meaty production. Not much of a change from last years debut EP, still not as interesting as it’s lineup, and not even the most interesting death metal record with John McEntee and a man (distantly) associated with van Drunen looming in the horizon. But it’s still worth a shot when it drops, and a step up, if the opener is any indication. 3/6/20 (Karhu)
