The alabaster throne doth overflow this week: amidst the miasmic morass, many stringed instruments can be found, as well as a glut of lo-fi black metal and some truly agonizing aural punishment (an owl had his first power electronics experience, and dare I say it is an acquired taAAAAAAAAAAAAA–
Dozer – Drifting in the Endless Void (Blues Funeral Recordings) [Sludge / Desert Rock]
The two tracks currently available paint a daunting stripe of blue above us—a crushing horizon that we traverse in a dune buggy, sand scouring our throats until we sound as gruff as the vocalist. Desert rock has a Josh Homme problem, and with Dozer, you can have all the Queens of the Stone Age you want, now with 100% less people who’ve kicked photographers in the mouth for no good reason. From the burly sludge riffs to tender falsettos, Drifting in the Endless Void has left me pleasurably parched. -Roldy
