It’s Toilet Tuesday, and you know what that means: new music to gird your ear-loins with. Jom Pootersan, W, Lacertilian and I have picked out some of the choicest cuts just for you. The rest is on you; have at it!

rostorchester

Rostorchester – Verdorbenheit (Bergstolz) [Black Metal]
Listen to “Wes’ Gebein die Marmorsärge harren”

Initially introduced to my ears not a even a week ago, it was to my gleeful surprise to see this black metal project is releasing a brand new album (although this track has been on the Youtubes for a while). Rostorchester won’t blow you away with superb technical musicianship or originality, but their riffs are fun and the atmosphere is pleasing. It is clear the underground thrives within these gents. 4/20/16 (Jom Pootersan)

autokrator_cover

Autokrator – The Obedience to Authority (Godz ov War Productions) [Death/Doom]
Stream

Last year, Autokrator released an uncompromising polemic against authoritarian abuse in the guise of an extreme industrial metal album. Less than a year later, the duo returns with a new album but similar approach. Extreme distortion and martial sounds are matched with mechanical, crushing death metal riffs and machine drums. I quite enjoyed the absurdly heavy, albeit single-minded self-titled release, so I look forward to hearing all of The Obedience of Authority. One thing that stands out on these first two tracks though is that the songs feature a bit more variety than those on the first album but sacrifice some of that wall of sound punch. Time will tell if that improves or lowers the quality of this release. FFO: N.K.V.D., Nihil Novi Sub Sole, Stagnant Waters 4/20/16 (W.)

zealotry

Zealotry – The Last Witness (Lavadome Productions) [Death Metal]
Listen to “Cybernetic Eucharist,” “Yliaster”

The hype around these parts for Zealotry’s The Last Witness is quite high, and for good reason. As you heard on the ToH radio show yesterday, Zealotry are masters of captivating, mind-warping dissonant death metal. Don’t mistake their prowess for flashiness, though; like the other bands that occupy the upper echelons of bizarre death, they know first and foremost how to craft catchy and well-written songs. May the giant void wasps take me now! FFO: Gorguts, Artificial Brain, Nucleus 4/22/16 (W.)

coffin lust

Coffin Lust – Manifestation of Inner Darkness (Hells Headbangers) [Death Metal]
Listen

Despite my penchant for cramming super-technical tunes polished to a sheen into your ears every week, sometimes I need to come down from my pristine ivory tower and roil in the muck with the rest of you peasants. Coffin Lust provides me with just the outlet for that; it’s fast, it’s filthy, and it gives no fucks (Cosigned – Lizard). It also makes for a nice change of pace hearing this style of death metal where every solo isn’t played using the Kerry King Scale™4/23/16 (Spear)

Reptilian – Perennial Void Traverse (Edged Circle Productions) [Death Metal]
Stream

Late to the party here but whilst perusing Spear’s list below guess what caught my eye? Reptilian. As your resident lizard, it would most certainly be remiss of me not to investigate such a band. And I’m pretty damn glad that I did just that, as the clutch of 6 tracks laid by Norway’s Reptilian are about to hatch, unleashing an arcane evil on you unsuspecting primates. The riffing on debut album opener “Swamp” is as malicious as it is primal. The leads are fittingly demented, and the vocals sound like what you’d expect if someone had laced Chuck Schuldiner’s breakfast with a particularly potent dose of PCP. Don’t let the sludgy intro fool you, things go berserk around the 2 minute mark and from that moment on, you’ll feel as though the psychosis has manifested in your mind too, in the best possible way of course. 04/22/2016 (Lacertilian)
