This Toilet Tuesday (7/7/20)
Toilet Tuesday comes round once more for all your new music needs. Kind of a smaller list this week, but the new Lantern is out Friday, so I’m happy. Karhu’s highlighted a couple other releases worthy of your attention as well, but don’t forget to check out the full list for more good stuff.
Battle Dagorath – Abyss Horizons (Avantgarde Music) [Black Metal]
Stream
Walls of harsh, distorted guitars, seen (heard) through a smudgy lens (hearing aid), endless blastbeats (except for when they end), vast, expansive synths for vast, expansive space exploration, and cold, cold ambiance. Of these was Battle Dagorath made, and so it remains, even after shrinking into a one man project. The songs may be long, but there’s enough twists and turns to justify it all, and besides, a poor representation of the unforgiving, unending cosmos it would be, if it forgave, or ended. 7/10/20 (Karhu)
Wanderer – Awakening Force (Independent) [Speed Metal]

Portuguese speed metal of the very usual kind. Apart from the good looking cover art, which kinda looks like it doesn’t belong here, there’s nothing that Wanderer does that you wouldn’t have heard several times before, often done better, based on the one available track at least, but I’m a sucker for le speede metalle traditionelle like this. And if the vocals were just a bit more powerful, it might even keep making rounds. They’ve certainly got the EEAH’s down to a T. 7/10/20 (Karhu)
