I’m sure most of you are familiar with the concept of kaiten-zushi, if not necessarily the term. It’s a type of sushi restaurant where you sit at a table next to a conveyor belt that sends around small plates of sushi, and you can grab whatever you want from it. You always eat about twenty plates, spending way too much money and too many hours on the toilet, holding your stomach in pain as guilt becomes regret. Now imagine this experience without the regret: the sushi is top-class, it’s relatively inexpensive, and you get to just stick your mouth at the end of the belt without having to go to the trouble of grabbing plates. You expect the usual raging bowel rejection, but it never comes. The stars align in the sky and you drop the perfect deuce. It’s so good you feel like you need a cigarette when you’re done. It’s a clean wipe. You stand up to flush, but can only gaze in wonder and awe at this Golden Child of food babies you have just birthed. As a pale light shines from the sky and you watch your beautiful creation ascend to the heavens, you know that everything is going to be better from now on. This week is like that perfect shit; there’s a ton of new music, it’s almost all good, and it marks the beginning of at least a few weeks of excellent releases. Plus, we get to welcome Stockhausen and Leif Bearikson to the TTT crew! So without further ado, here’s the metal. -Spear

necroholocaust

Necroholocaust – Holocaustic Goat Metal (Iron Bonehead) [Holocaustic Goat Metal]

Listen to “Sadomasochrist”

After almost a decade of demos and splits, Canada’s most unholy purveyors of Goat Metal are finally releasing their first full length. What is goat metal you ask? Fuck if I know, but it sounds blackened, filthy and like it’s ready to crucify your ears. Stream “Sadomasochrist” and follow the path of the goat. (Leif Bearikson)

fuck the facts

Fuck the Facts – Abandoned (Noise Salvation) [Grindcore/Experimental]

Stream

I’m only roughly 15 years late to the Fuck the Facts party, but better late than murdered on the way there as they say. The band’s new EP, Abandoned, is 3 tracks utterly crushing chaos that will leave you utterly faceless. Stream the EP over at Exclaim while I try to get caught up on all of this fact fucking. (Leif Bearikson)

die choking

Die Choking – II (Independent) [Grindcore]

Listen to “Non-Yielder”

You should be aware that I like grind. Blasting, furious, brutal grind is better than most things at getting me pumped (with the exception of coffee and Manowar). I also appreciate the fact that a lot of grind is totally lacking in pretense. If you love grind, you should totally know what to expect when you press play on “Non-Yielder” by Die Choking. This is bone-breaking, bludgeoning, and brisk brutality. I wouldn’t have it any other way. (W.)

ritual of flesh

Ritual of Flesh – Splatter Grind Abortion (Rotten Roll Rex) [Goregrind]

Listen to “Cocaine Drift”

It’s interesting listening to this track after the one by Die Choking. This is equally brutal and guttural, but there’s more a slam influence than in “Non-Yielder.” Ritual of Flesh give “Cocain Drift” a bit more room to breathe and batter, and as a result are able to inject a little more sonic diversity into their grindy concoction. Both songs are great, but if you’re a fan of “bree brees” and trash-can snares, this one may be more your speed. (W.)

black crown initiate

Black Crown Initiate – The Wreckage of Stars (eOne Heavy) [Progressive Death Metal]

Listen to “The Great Mistake,” “Withering Waves”

Long ago, two giant landmasses named Good Songwriting and Progressive Sensibilities drifted together through Death Metal Ocean, and they collided with great force. A mountain range formed, and at the highest peak, this album awaits. Climb, stranger, and bask in what greets you there. (Stockhausen)

temple of void

Temple of Void Of Terror and the Supernatural (Naturmacht) [Blackened Death]

Listen to “Savage Howl”

This debut album from doomy death metallers Temple of Void seems very promising. Monstrous vocals churn like a dark cloud over steady, yet captivating riffs that don’t overstay their welcome. The pacing of these tunes is spot on for those who like a doomy feel, but not falling asleep because of an album. (Stockhausen)
