News has just broken within the last few hours that Vinnie Paul has died.
That’s all the details we have right now. Don’t really know what else you need to know anyway, the man who watched as his brother and life-long jam-partner was killed on stage some 13 years ago is now also dead, aged 54. Too fucking early. I’m not really in the position to give an appropriate tribute post right now but I’m sure we’ll see plenty roll in across the internet over the next few hours; along with all the speculation and other bullshit that comes with the death of basically anyone of note these days. So we’ll do your Riff Of The Week competition tomorrow instead, and leave today to commemorate the life of one of metal’s most celebrated drummers – Vinnie Paul.
