Flush It Friday: No Mosh Pit Gods

No Mosh Pit Masters.

Philadelphia scene super veterans Omit All released last Friday their new three-track EP Lights Up on the End Stage. Moshing all over that very fine line between hardcore and metal, Omit All knocks out quick, punchy, and propulsive metalcore that’s far more jagged than melodic. Sure, there are some brief flashes of Knocked Loose, but I’m beguiled by passages harkening back to Curl Up and Die, Every Time I Die, or Coalesce. The EP’s best track “Forever Friction” injects that unforgettable ETID swagger into the swamp metal of Black Tusk. “You will only know war. You will live in division.”

I’ve written about Snawfuss before, and perhaps I always will, though sooner or later I will lose my perspicacity and simply say, “Tape good. Press play,” which is all I’m really ever saying anyway. The Seventh Crown, printed on black-shell cassette by Fiadh, is dark fantasy synth that, like previous albums, delves into exalted post-rock and shuddering black-gaze at the most unexpected moments. The elegiac yet calming synths of the band, marking great travails, inevitably erupt into great calamities. What drama! What stakes. The project always captures these great dramas in miniature, with songs rarely ever running over 3 minutes.

Timed perfectly, the new Rhode Island Hardcore band BBQxBBQ released their slow-braised, sauce-soaked, meat-and-two-sides EP One Blood, One Sauce on Memorial Day weekend 2026. If you were drooling over the heart-stopping calories of Bridge 9, Ferret, or Victory Records in the early 2000s, you’ll find much to adore in the duo’s posi-mosh. With the unifying spirit of Stretch Arm Strong, the brute force of Until the End, and the dance moves of Bury Your Dead, BBQxBBQ is a call for summer backyard party unity. Whether you’re omnivorous, vegetarian, or even gluten-free, you’re all welcome. Just keep the potato salad covered.

wrote 1500 words about the newest from Fires in the Distance and almost none of them had anything to do with the music. Incredible album.
